After a broken night’s sleep (I was too excited!), we checked out for our flight. Thanks to collecting Avios, we were booked on BA business class flights, so we headed straight to the Club lounge for a champagne breakfast. After spotting all there was to spot out of the window and enjoying the free champagne, it was time to wander on down to the gate.

It was a perfect opportunity to leave behind the hustle and bustle of London and bask in the beauty, history and local cuisines of Greece. Our backpacks were at the ready. We were travelling light, with only essentials like bikinis, shorts and sun cream. There wasn’t a hair straightener in sight.

Wine & sun in the French Riviera11 Nov 2018
It was a miserable November in grey old London and we were after a last gasp of sunshine before Christmas without breaking the bank. The French Riviera (or CÔte D’Azur) was a much more pleasant 20°C and under two hours away by plane. Perfect. We knew almost nothing about the area and only had only five days to see it all, but we had an itinerary that covered the essentials: vineyards, food and an authentic French experience off the usual tourist trail.
