Looking for paradise? Welcome to Kuramathi Maldives. This idyllic destination offers everything you need for an unforgettable island retreat in this magical part of the world. Aquamarine waters teeming with marine life, powder-white sands, plenty of space, dining options, diverse accommodation, and the famous mile-long sandbar, you’ll wonder why you didn’t come sooner.

Mile-long sandbank

The epitome of barefoot luxury, the mile-long sandbank on Kuramathi Maldives is the ultimate in utopian island living. Soft white sand combines with the world’s clearest, turquoise waters to create the quintessential island paradise. Leave palm-fringed beaches - and your cares - behind and venture out into the great blue beyond from the safety of the sandbank. Wade into the transparent warm waters, gaze out to the horizon and revel in the sense of really getting away from it all. Whether you’re taking a sunrise stroll along the sand, or enjoying a romantic sunset dinner with your significant other, this picture-perfect enclave is unforgettable.

Two-bedroom Beach House

Perfect for families or friends travelling together, the two-bedroom Beach House is the perfect luxury lodging for your time in Kuramathi Maldives. This two-storey residence features separate living spaces with individual entrances, providing all-important privacy while enjoying the benefits of communal living. Both come with spacious bed and bathrooms, baths, showers and outdoor rainfall showers, while day beds on wooden sundecks or balconies enable you to soak up some of the island’s best views from the comfort of your own property. Located at the top end of the island and facing either the lagoon or the reef, these duplex villas accommodate six adults or four adults and two children.

Spa

Lean into luxurious relaxation at the Kuramathi spa. Set amongst calming vegetation with the ocean as its backdrop, you’ll start to feel lighter before the treatments have even started. Begin with a sauna, jacuzzi or cool dip pool, followed by a refreshing cool drink or soothing herbal tea. Treatments include couples specials, massage, Ayurvedic treatments, detoxification, body polishes and beauty treatments. Alternatively, book a bubble bath complete with sparkling wine and fresh fruits for a multi-sensory unwinding experience.

Deluxe Beach Villa

Located along the wide beaches in the centre of the island, Deluxe Beach Villas boast stellar views of the turquoise lagoon. Soak up the scene in the spacious outdoor area which includes a hot tub, rainfall shower and sala bed for two, or simply catch some rays on the sun loungers and daybed on the expansive wooden deck area. A king-sized four-poster bed is the perfect place to catch forty winks, while the built-in sunlit daybed means you won’t have to venture far to make the most of the tropical climate.

Pool Villas on the Beach

For optimum opulence, consider a Pool Villa, which comes equipped with its own private 18sqm infinity pool. Enter through your own private courtyard before stepping out to the exclusive terrace and pool, complete with a dazzling view of the beach and aquamarine waters beyond. The spacious residence includes a free-standing bathtub, walk-in wardrobe, indoor bathroom and outdoor rainfall shower, offering a little slice of heaven during your time at Kuramathi. Raid the minibar and raise a glass to a life less ordinary.

Thundi Water Villa with Pool

For the ultimate Kuramathi experience, opt for a Thundi Water Villa. Located in either the crystal-clear lagoon or facing the house reef, these residences include a private 18sqm pool overlooking the ocean, are surrounded by water and situated on the illustrious Kuramathi sandbank. Take a twilight dip with your significant other to gaze at the stars before showering off and sinking into a cosy king-sized bed. For an unimpeded Indian Ocean view, with sleek furnishings and plenty of space, a stay in a Thundi Water Villa provides an unforgettable Maldives experience.

Kids’ club

It’s not just the grown-ups that can expect to have an unforgettable time at Kuramathi Maldives. The Bageecha club offers a host of age-appropriate and fun-packed indoor and outdoor activities for children aged between 3-12-years-old, such as nature walks, treasure hunts, beach activities and marine life education in conjunction with the resort’s Eco Centre. Over 530sqm is dedicated to the Bageecha club, which includes a large swimming pool, playground, sandpit, treehouse, rest and entertainment rooms. Creche facilities are also available for smaller children, plus babysitting services for when the adults want a break.

All-inclusive or Select All-Inclusive?

Forget fiddling around with loose change and opt for an inclusive package during your time at Kuramathi. The basic all-inclusive package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets at Haruge, Malaafaiy or Farivalhu restaurants, one of which is allocated to you based on your villa category. With the exception of champagne, bottled wine and premium brands, all beverages in restaurants and bars are included. Elsewhere, the basic package includes the hire of snorkelling and windsurfing equipment, plus a sunset cruise and an excursion to the neighbouring island of Rasdhoo. Select All-Inclusive guests can additionally dine in any of the on-site restaurants and enjoy bottled wines featured in the Select-All Inclusive wine list.

Tandoor Mahal

Experience some of the best Tandoori cooking in the Indian Ocean at Kuramathi’s Tandoor Mahal restaurant. From classic chicken dishes, to fish and seafood options, expect a mouth-watering culinary event at this exceptional establishment. Surrounded by lush gardens, this is a dining experience you won’t forget in a hurry. Can’t make up your mind? Try the weekly ‘Discover Indian Food’ buffet for an extensive selection of savoury and sweet treats.

The Reef

Perfect for a romantic dinner for two, The Reef is Kuramathi’s signature seafood dining experience. Situated over the aquamarine lagoon, with jaw-dropping Indian Ocean views, this unique dining experience offers guests the freshest catch from the water below them, plus top quality seafood imported from abroad. In addition to classic fish dining options, consider one of the sensational seafood feasts, containing a plethora of fishy treats for all palates. Open for dinner earlier, it’s well worth booking a table at The Reef during your stay.

Diving and snorkelling

Whether you’re entirely new to underwater life, or an experienced diver, Kuramathi is home to some of the best diving sites in the world. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are home to a profusion of aquatic life, including sea turtles, manta rays, sharks, crabs, barracuda, tuna, morays, leaf fish and more. Keen to get started? Kuramathi offers diving courses for both adults and children, while seasoned divers can explore more than 20 local dive sites on both night and early-morning dives - and even spot hammerhead sharks.

Laguna Bar

One of the best places in the world to raise a glass? We think so. The Laguna Bar is the ideal place to relax and unwind with a glass of something cool while enjoying the infinite views of the Indian Ocean. Whether you’re watching the sunset with an early-evening G&T, catching up on quality time with your partner, or enjoying a nightcap to the sound of the waves lapping, this secluded bar at the far end of the island is an unbeatable place to take some time out.

Hugh says:”Looking for Kuramathi reviews? Don’t trawl through TripAdvisor, give us a call and we’ll tell you what we thought of the island. We’ve been there twice, so know the island inside out!”
Ben says: “If you are wondering about Kuramathi weather and the best time to go, give me a call. Generally, December to March is the best time to travel - but you can find fantastic deals outside of this time.”
